God is a crazy awesome miracle worker...

I love how believing in God means that I also believe and KNOW that He is a miracle worker.  There are lots of so-called "miracles" that I am praying for right now.  I'll just share two.

I'm praying that Eric LeGrand is able to walk again someday!

I'm praying that God HEALS a beautiful wonderful amazing dude, Brent Weaver.  I'm praying HARD for this one.  PLEASE join me. If it makes it any more personal to you, he grew up in SL, lives there still, and his wife graduated from Austin High.  PRAY IT UP!!

Shrek & Nemo!!

Orrrr perhaps I should refer to them as Kreck & Memo.  Because that's what Avery calls them.  For Christmas we got a DVD player for the back of our seats in the car.  Since we are roadtrippin' maniacs they are rather handy little gadgets for the Bradford Familia :)  Everytime we go NEAR the car, Aves exclaims "KRECK!!?" in utter excitement.  Love it.

At home we've watched Finding Nemo a few times too.  This child loves Nemo and is SO concerned when the shark "eats" him at the beginning of the movie.  She looks terrified and then screams "UH-OH!!!" when sharky's big scary mouth engulfs poor little Memo. Again.  Love it.

Toddlers are ridiculously entertaining.

Study Linking Autism to Vaccines Found Fraudulent

Wow.  I seriously canNOT believe this kind of thing happens.

The editor-in-chief of the BMJ (British Medical Journal) had this to say about the 1998 study by Andrew Wakefield linking autism to the MMR vaccine:
“the MMR scare was based not on bad science but on a deliberate fraud” and that such “clear evidence of falsification of data should now close the door on this damaging vaccine scare.”
An editorial in the BMJ says,
“A great deal of thought and effort must have gone into drafting the paper to achieve the results he [Andrew Wakefield] wanted: the discrepancies all led in one direction; misreporting was gross.”
DANG.   This dude's medical license was yanked last year for "serious professional misconduct" relating to the study.  AND 10 of his co-authors on the published study have since bowed out.  Messed.  Up.

You know what freaks me out even more?  His license was nullified in England.  So, he moved to Texas he now heads up an alternative medicine center for Autism treatment & research.  SCARY.  I wouldn't trust this guy to come within 100 yards of my kid.

A few good articles relating to the issue:

Playday!!

Since my girls have been stuck at home for the last few days, I figured I'd get them out and about yesterday.  We woke up, ate breakfast, got dressed (before 10am. Um...NEVER happens), saw daddy off, read a few books, and headed to the mall for some shopping and playtime! I heart my munchkins :)

Avery and Cameron having storytime together.  Sweetie pies!!

PLAYTIME!!

I met a lady at the mall who has 2 girls who are 15.5 months apart...super s imilar to my little ones!  She says that there's no way her girls would have been chill enough to let her shop around the mall.  I guess I should be extra thankful for the laid back babies God has hooked me up with so far!
Aves didn't nap all that well when we got home from our big dal.  So...when we went to meet Casizzle & Tatum for an afternoon run she wasn't in the greatest mood ev.  She perked up once we got moving!

Guest Post: Early Childhood Education by Emily Patterson

Early Childhood Education
LACKING SPICE?

If you're one of the few parents who are able to stay at home with your children, you
are among the truly fortunate as many parents are forced to enroll their children in some type of
child care program.

Those who are fortunate enough to stay at home to raise their children typically wish to take
full advantage of this opportunity by attempting to give their children a head start on learning;
reading to them, engaging in educational play activities, encouraging them to read, and more.
Unfortunately, very few parents are able to touch on all of these areas.

This is where young children can benefit tremendously from attendance at a certified child care
center, operated by trained, certified early childhood educators. While a teacher cannot replace
a parent, the experience of learning in a school setting during the early years can be a valuable
supplement to a child's experience at a time when the brain is most flexible and is rapidly developing.

SPICE

This is where trained, certified early childhood educators can "fill the gaps" when it comes to a
young child's development. For example, were you as a parent aware that there are five equally
important areas of a young child's development? These are summed up by the acronym, "SPICE"
– Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and Emotional.

Social development involves the way a child relates to others and functions in a group setting.
This development is especially crucial for those children who come from a home without other
children. The importance of socialization in a structured environment is something that a
preschool environment can help young children with.

Physical development refers to building motor skills, from the gross, like running and walking,
to fine skills like holding and pen or pencil.

Intellectual development is often achieved through structured play, and of course means
development of language and math skills. This also includes the child's innate sense of curiosity
and wonder.

Creative development addresses artistic talents in visual arts, music, storytelling and even
theatrics. Believe it or not, it is the foundation self-expression and problem solving.

Emotional development is frequently overlooked, even by the most devoted parents. Yet, without
a sense of self, including self confidence and the discipline to deal with one's own emotional
responses, a child will have difficulty functioning in society later in life.

The Professional Advantage

It is likely that most parents are aware of these developmental domains on an instinctive level.
However, certified preschool educators are trained in the scientific theory and methodology thatcan make the difference between a child succeeding – and succeeding brilliantly.

So if you are forced to send your young child to a preschool program, be sure to take the time
to do the research and find a good fit for your child. By sending them to certified educators you
can help them develop skills that will help them later in life, things that can be and are central to
success in school later on.

Guest Post Coming Manana!!

I was approached recently by a woman who works for Primrose Schools.  She has written an article in which she discusses early childhood education and the benefits of sending your children to a school with certified early educators.  She asked me to post the article for my readers, and I obliged.  It's not the most well-written thing ever, but she gets her point across!  If you're interested, it will be posted in the morning at 7:30am sharp!

I'll go ahead and let you know that I do not send my kiddos to any type of school or childcare right now, so I really have no opinion on the matter.  :)

Thanks and goodnight!

Our New Fav... KINECT!!

The Bradfords are now proud owners of an XBox 360 KINECT.  Umm.....SO FUN.  Thank you Iverson for your stellar recommendation on what to get the hubs for Christmas.  He has found a new love. This thing is SERIOUSLY the bomb.  First of all, it's a workout.  So, if you hate going to the gym...hook yourself up with a KINECT.  Secondly, the technology is uber-impressive!  The little cartoon avatar dude looks exactly like Brian.  Totally wasn't expecting that.  My all time fav thing is that once you're done with your game, it posts video clips of you during the race/game.  Pretty entertaining :)

We've played the game it comes with, which is actually pretty fun.  YourShape by Men's Health.  It's a fitness/workout/training game.  They actually correct form and everything.  Not bad!  And of course KINECT Sports...super fun.  Brian and I competed a track & field meet last night.  I lost...but I'm pretty sure I'll dominate him tonight.  I'll let you know how it goes... :)

So anyway.  Get a KINECT.  It's the bomb.com

Moving/Unpacking: courtesy of my trusty droid!!

Brian and I startd by stocking up on some packing essentials!  Packing tape, our beloved boxes that we have used for 3 moves now, and of course, Big Red & Cupcakes!!

Casey, Tatum & Greg came over to help, along w the in-laws, Tori & JC, and Ames & BM.  Casey's job was to keep the little ones entertained, but the dolly and Tatum both helped tremendously :)

By the end of the day, the boys were pretty wiped.  They moved the equivalent of a 4-bedroom house in less than 6 hours!!

Once we finally made it into the new place, Avery kept her daddy company while unloading and unpacking!

While Mommy worked on babies' rooms, babies played together in Cameron's crib.  PRETTY much melted my sappy old mommy-heart :)

Kerbey was also super helpful by sharing her food and water with Averton.  (We're working on that...)

The Wegs came over one more time to help unpack and organize the gameroom! Tater Tot and Averton thoroughly enjoyed their first meal together at the little kid table.  Cutie patooties.

We are still making progress around here.  Slowly but surely.  We're hosting our small group in a couple of weeks, so that should keep us motivated to get this thing knocked out!  LOVING our new place :)  Thankful that such a perfect little place was provided for our fam!

Burpees for Bucks!!
